CAN WEST INDIES DEFEND THE T20 WORLD CUP

West Indies is the current champion of T20 cricket world cup that is schedule to take place in the UAE and Oman

Can they really win it

FORM

West Indies players are playing some of the worst cricket at the moment. Their top order is struggling also the middle order

Their poor batting has seen them loosing to South Africa in the recent home series with the exception Evan Lewis

Lewis is the only player in the top six who show some form by averaging 35.6 and scoring 178 runs in the 5 match series

Simmons, Gayle,Hetmyer,Pooran ,Russell and captain Kieron Pollard all have a poor series, with none of them averaging over 25 runs in 5 matches

SELECTION

West Indies selectors will be having headache to select the team for the world cup with so much batsman struggling for form

With king, Brathwaite, Darren Bravo and Shai Hope all waiting to join the world cup squad

Heptmyer , Gayle , and Russell will all have to step up in the two series against Australia and Pakistan in order to make the squad

THE WORLD CUP PITCHES

The pitches in UAE and Oman will be a spin bowler Paradice offering lots of bounce and turn

Spin bowling has been a downfall of west indies cricket over the years ,they do not play spin well and normally loose wicket to spinners

Darren Bravo is the best player west indies have that is comfortable with spin bowling and therefore should be confident of making the squad

THE VERDICT

I strongly believe that if west Indies players can find form before the tournament ,they will have a live chance of defending their title

I also believe that Darren Bravo, Carlos Brathwaite and Shai Hope are to be included in the team
